Giving sadaqa is a voluntary act of charity. It is a good deed. Being good to others, doing good deeds and helping the less fortunate in our communities are some of the key qualities of the lives of Muslims.
Giving comes with blessings and rewards. Said the Messenger of Allah SAW “Charity extinguishes sin, just as water extinguishes fire” (al-Tirmidhi).
Ramadan is a special month for Muslims and we tend to give more sadaqa during the month of fasting than any other time of the year. And that is great. But it’s also good practice for Muslims to give sadaqa throughout the year, whenever we can. It is an investment in the Hereafter.
